Trip Description:
Near the Mexico border along the infamous Ruby Road, this small man-made lake and nearby canyon offer great birding in an interesting habitat of rolling hills made up of oak grassland with willows and cottonwoods near the lake. This is good Montezuma Quail habitat and we’ll try to get a look at these secretive quail. Depending on time we will make a stop along the De Anza trail in Tumacacori on the way back. Last year a pair of Rose-throated Becards tried nesting in this area.
