NEW!! Limited Call for Additional Poster Abstracts from our Latin American Colleagues
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: June 10, 2020 at 11:59 PM EST
With the move to a virtual meeting, scheduled August 10-15, 2020, the NAOC steering committee is pleased to invite additional poster abstracts from our colleagues in Latin America (Central and South America, including Mexico) and the Caribbean (including Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, etc). If you have already submitted an abstract for the conference you do not need to submit anything. Detailed guidelines for posters will be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks. The deadline for new poster submissions is 10 June, 2020.
The virtual meeting will still offer a wonderful opportunity for sharing and discussing scientific research in all areas involving birds, including research focused on our meeting’s theme, “Flight paths addressing global change,” although any subjects of broad interest in ornithology are welcome. We invite you to submit an abstract for consideration as a presentation for the poster session.
Posters will be uploaded as a PDF with an optional accompanying 3 minute audio recording. During the meeting, poster presenters will be assigned to a virtual poster session. Each presenter will have an opportunity to join a virtual discussion room where presenters can interact with visitors. We will provide details and instructions for presenters when we get closer to the meeting.
Notifications regarding acceptance of poster abstracts will be sent out in mid-June 2020. Instructions for participating in the poster session will be sent out at a later date. General Information
All poster abstracts must be submitted using the NAOC Abstract Submission Portal.
You can save your abstract as a draft in the submission portal and continue to revise it until the deadline. Prior to the submission deadline, be sure to click the “Submit” button to verify your entry as final. Abstracts still in draft status may not be reviewed. The abstract submission deadline is 11:59 pm EDT on June 10, 2020.

Submission Portal Account
The Abstract Submission Portal is housed within the same membership portal used by AOS, AFO, RRF, and WOS. It is also the same system hosting online registration for the meeting. Individuals with an existing account will log into the system using their current login credentials. New users will need to create a free account (see instructions further down).
Please note, abstracts should be submitted through the portal account of the presenting author. The presenting author will use this same account when registering for the meeting. This allows us to match your abstract submission(s) with your conference registration.
Language
Please submit all abstracts in English (Required). Authors are welcome to submit an accompanying abstract in Spanish, Portuguese, or French. The Abstract Submission Portal includes a separate text box for entering the second version of your abstract. While we encourage submission of abstracts in both languages, abstracts will be reviewed in English. Presenters may create their poster in their home language but we strongly recommend having section headers in English (or English with Spanish subtitles) to help more people understand your poster. It is up to the individual to translate the content of their posters. Google Translate or DeepL provide reasonable translations.
Abstract Length
Poster Presentation Abstracts are limited to 250 words.

If you already have a Member Portal username and password (e.g., you are a current or previous member of AOS, AFO, RRF, or WOS), you can navigate directly to the submission form by clicking the link below. Depending on your browser settings, you may be asked to log in again. Upon logging in, you should be taken directly to the submission form.
Don’t have a Member Portal account or you are not sure?
If you do not already have a username and password, you will first need to set up your free account from the Member Portal login page. Click the “Create a User Account” on the left side of the login page.
If you are not sure if you have an existing account, click the “Forgot your password? Click here” link on the left side of the page and then enter your email address on the following page. If you have an existing account with that email address, the system will send you a link to reset your password.
Once you have your account established, you can navigate to the submission form by selecting “View Open Competitions” in the Awards, Competitions, & Submissions section in the lower right of the screen. On the resulting page, find the NAOC 2020 Limited Call for Additional Poster Abstracts and click “View”.
